Accommodation Support
At Culture Connex, our team works closely with participants, families, carers, and providers to ensure that accommodation options are aligned with every individual’s unique needs, preferences and goals. We specialise in identifying and securing Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), Supported Independent Living (SIL), and tailored home modifications that empower you to live your best life.
Our Accommodation Services
SDA (Specialised Disability Accommodation)
Provides purpose-built, accessible homes designed for people with significant functional impairment or high support needs. SDA focuses on independence, safety, and comfort by offering modern, fully accessible housing that supports everyday living while enabling tailored care and support.
SIL (Supported Independent Living)
Provides personalised, around-the-clock 24/7 support to help people with disability live as independently as possible. SIL focuses on daily living assistance — including personal care, meal preparation, medication support, and skill-building — within shared or individual homes, empowering participants to achieve their goals while feeling safe, supported, and connected.
ILO (Individualised Living Options)
Offers flexible, person-centred living arrangements designed around your unique lifestyle, goals, and support needs. Unlike traditional housing models, ILO gives you choice and control — whether you live alone, with friends, family, or a support network — with tailored assistance to help you build independence, stability, and meaningful connections.
MTA (Medium Term Accommodation)
Provides short-term, accessible housing for NDIS participants who are waiting for permanent living arrangements. MTA offers a safe, supportive, and comfortable place to stay — helping you maintain stability and continuity of care while your long-term housing is arranged.
STA / Respite (Short Term Accommodation and Home Modifications)
Provides temporary, supportive accommodation for people with disability, giving participants a safe and enjoyable place to stay while offering family and carers a much-needed break. STA focuses on building independence, trying new experiences, developing skills, and connecting with others in a comfortable and supportive environment.
We provide support to:
- Find and transition into supported living environments.
- Accommodate all individuals, including those with complex needs.
- Individuals that are sole occupants or live in a shared environment considering compatibility with housemates.
- Assess group living environments and ensure compatibility with other residents; it’s important to us that you live in a harmonious environment you enjoy and can thrive in!
- Provide a personal approach and environment that adheres to the highest standard. Individual requirements are tailored to their living environment and disability needs.
- Locate housing options where staff are professional, experienced and qualified.
- Find safe accommodation where staff-to-participant ratios are adequate and emergency triage systems are in place.
- Ensure all home modifications (such as accessible bathroom and kitchen upgrades, structural adjustments for mobility aids, and smart technology integrations) meet the Liveable Housing Australia and Australian Standard Guidelines.
- Working close with your clinical team for a safe transition out of hospitals, Rehabilitation or Aged Care Facilities for an appropriate living environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we assist clients in securing housing that meets their needs and preferences. We also support individuals looking to live independently by providing home modifications and in-home support services.
We offer a range of flexible living arrangements to suit individual needs and preferences. Whether you’d like to remain in your own home, live independently in a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or Supported Independent Living (SIL) property, or prefer the companionship of a shared living environment, we can support you.
Funded through the NDIS, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is housing designed to meet specific design standards and allow residents to live more independently, with features tailored to their individual needs. These homes also enable better access to on-site or nearby support services, providing a safe, comfortable, and empowering living environment.
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a type of NDIS support that helps people with disability live as independently as possible, while receiving day-to-day assistance with tasks like cooking, cleaning, personal care, and medication management.
Yes, Culture Connex offers Short Term Accommodation (STA), also known as respite, in a welcoming, home-like environment shared with other guests. During your stay, you’ll receive support from qualified staff with daily routines and activities, while also having the chance to build new skills, connect with others, explore new experiences, and work towards your personal goals.
Short Term Accommodation is NDIS funded. This funding is listed under core supports in the support category Assistance with Daily Life.
Medium Term Accommodation can support you if you need somewhere to live while waiting for your confirmed long term housing solution. Medium Term Accommodation is usually for stays up to three months (90 days) and is NDIS funded.
Yes, we provide a range of accommodation options to support individuals during times of transition or crisis. This includes Short-Term Accommodation (STA) Respite and emergency stays, offering a safe and supportive environment while longer-term solutions are arranged. We also offer Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) for those waiting on home modifications, transitioning between homes, or needing temporary housing for a few months.
Individualised living options (ILO) is support to live the way that suits you. Culture Connex was one of the first NDIS providers to successfully implement the ILO model in the community outside of its pilot project. Not everybody is illegible for SIL 24/7 care, so ILO is flexible to help best support the participant in the right home with a hybrid model of care.

Yes. Culture Connex provides personalised support to help individuals safely transition from hospital or rehabilitation back into the community. This may include returning to their own home, moving into Culture Connex disability housing (SDA, ILO, SIL, or MTA), accessing crisis accommodation, or connecting with other suitable housing options.
During the transition phase, we collaborate with the individual, their family, and clinical teams to ensure continuity of care and support. We can establish tailored support plans, including Culture Connex support workers and, where required, registered nursing services.
